precap:
The rain hit the pavement in steady rhythms, a quiet song only Amelia seemed to notice. She stood at the edge of the sidewalk, staring at the house across the street-the one she swore she'd never return to.
A warm glow seeped through the curtains, casting shadows of people moving inside. Laughter. The sound felt foreign, like a language she had long forgotten. Her fingers curled into fists as a lump rose in her throat. How could they be laughing?
A gust of wind pushed against her, urging her forward, but she stayed frozen. Go inside, Amelia. Face them. The voice in her head was firm, but her body refused to listen.
She wasn't ready.
Not for the truth.
Not for the memories.
Not for the person she used to be before everything shattered.
Present:
Life hasn't always been perfect for Amelia.
The more she relied on others the more disappointed she became and one day decided to be strong for the sake of her small little sister Cindy.
Her mother ran away leaving them with their father when her baby sister was born and her dad was an alcohol addict who made no efforts to make life better for his kids.
After Amelia reached her 18, she started working in a cafe to support herself and her sister, she would sing in the evenings as a singer in the cafe. she was very passionate about writing and always wanted to become a writer so now and then she would write her blog from being anonymous on her blogs.
But what she didn't know was that her life would change after some crazy occurrence in life which will turn her life upside down.
---------------------------
"When will you be back from work Amy?" her little sister peeked through the doorway pouting her face.
"You ask this question everyday Cindy.... and just like every day, I'll be back by the evening."
she looked towards Cindy who now had her tears in her eyes.
"Cindy my baby I'll leave you with aunt Anne and I'll be back soon with your favourite chocolates, okay? You know this is important for us right dear?"
"Yes, I just wish to spend more time with you but you're always busy." she pouted.
Amelia laughed at her response sardonically
"I promise to make time for you this weekend okay."
"Okay." Cindy seemingly was happier now.
Amelia left Cindy to her aunt Anne's home and took a bus to her cafe.
" Amelia....today we are having some special guests and you are to attend them as well as be the part of orchestra. " The cafe owner informed her.
"Is it important for me to do it Dean? maybe jessie could do it instead?"
"Yeah no! they actually asked for you." he told her.
"Wait what? They asked for me? How do they know me?" she asked being amazed at the revelation.
"Well, that's for me to know and you to find out." he smirked at her and left.
Amelia was surprised that someone asked specially for her to attend them and she somehow found it strange.
"Well perhaps someone would have suggested them or maybe dean is lying to make me work." she huffed.
The day passed by quickly and it was almost 5 in the evening.
Two men walked in dark shades and loose fitted clothes carrying a pretty dark aura around them. Everyone in the cafe hushed among themselves and the girls were batting eyelashes at them.
One of them smiled and winked at the girl in a flirtatious manner.
They walked inside towards the private room.
"Amelia....it's your cue to get ready and serve them, go along and don't mess it up." Dean gushed Amelia towards the closet area.
So, the rich pricks are my special guest tonight ....no wonder I already feel sick to my stomach. Amelia certainly had a dislike towards rich people because according to her they are so full of themselves and selfish.
She quickly changed into a black dress with high bun and her hairs falling out from it.
She walked inside to find those two guys sitting with some other two guys. she walked up to them with fake plastered smile.
"Sir, what would you like to have." she asked placing down the menu card.
But no one looked at her except One of the men who walked in earlier. He looked at her so intently as if reading her soul. his gaze shifted from her eyes to her neck to her legs and quickly back to her eyes.
"What's your name?" He asked her with utmost authority.
His aura was so dark and voice so heavy that it sent chills down her spine.
"Am-Amelia." she replied trying to hide the fact that she was intimidated.
"Amelia....are you the girl who sings here?"
"Yes, that would be me." she raised eyebrows at his question.
" Hmm.... call dean." he told her looking back towards the menu card.
Amelia quickly moved out of the room catching her breath which was stuck in her throat from so long. walking inside that room in such Dark intimidating presence was suffocating for her.
She told dean about the situation and followed him inside.
The guy whispered something in dean's ear and dean seemed Petrified.
he wiped sweat from his forehead and asked Amelia to take her position and start singing.
Amelia walked towards her position and took a deep breath, nodding at the guitarist she started singing.
"It's bittersweet to think about the damage that we do
Cause I was going down, but I was doing it with you
Yeah, everything we broke, and all the trouble that we made
But I say that I hate you with a smile on my face
Oh, look what we became"
She looked him in the eye and her hands trembled suddenly, she felt so drawn.... it was only him among the four who looked at her without taking his almost soft gaze away even for a second a small smile on his lips while he twirled his wine glass.
"All the things I did
Just so I could call you mine
All the things you did
Well, I hope I was your favourite crime
Your favourite crime
Your favourite crime
Cause baby, you were mine"
She finished her song and walked down from the stage.
"I hope you liked and-"
"I loved it." before she could finish, he replied.
"Ah- Thank you! it's my time to leave, it was pleasure serving you sir!! Goodbye." she bowed and quickly walked out.
His gaze followed her trail until the door closed.
Amelia quickly changed out of her clothes and ended her shift.
since it took her longer than usual, she missed her bus and had to walk down the street to catch another one.
Today was stranger than I expected, I have no idea why the other three men pretended to be statue while That guy pretended to own the place. she laughed to herself, as much as she wanted to deny it, she was somewhat flattered by the attention.
She took the bus to home picking up Cindy from her way.
"Amy why are you so late?" Cindy pouted at her.
"Work Cindy work I am sorry, okay? I bought you chocolates look."
Cindy quickly grabbed the box
" Uhm chocolates.... I might forgive you now." she beamed.
Amelia took Cindy to home and walked inside when she saw a shadow lingering in the corner of the street.
she tried taking a peek at it but it was pretty hazy for her to see clearly.
She ignored it and walked inside to find a scroll on the doorway.
She opened it, "Take care of yourself, I will soon take you away." she thought someone was playing tricks at her and threw the scroll away.
These kids need some good parenting about how to not disturb other people, they think they could scare me. she huffed.
"What did you throw away Amy?" Cindy asked.
she looked back at the scroll "Nothing important." she told her.
