CHAPTER 6 - WHEN OUR EYES MET

DAMIEN

"Capo, we have a visitor." Carl informed me with an amused smile on his face.

"Aham... and what makes you so happy about that?"

He bursts into fits of laughter. "You should really meet her Capo; she's a feisty little thing." He told me.
I give him an unimpressed look. "I hope you haven't lost your senses over a girl we are about to make our maid."

"How did your conversation with Cindy go?" Luke asks me.

"She is resting in her bedroom, she barely responded much, all I got was that she lives with her elder sister.... the one Carl is drooling over I guess." I eyed him.

"Nothing as such Capo." He retorted in his defence, still smirking.

"She also told me that her mother left them when she was born and she has never seen her and slowly her father turned worst than he was ever before, and they barely keep contact with him except that he keeps showing up asking for money."

"So, what are we suppose to do with her now?" Luke asks me.

"I don't know yet. We'll meet the other girl and see what we can put her up to because I am not willing to make a 5–6-year-old work for me." I look into the distance. Flashes from my past lingering in my head. "I might be a monster but I'll never harm a kid."

"Let's go see this girl." Luke punches carl playfully on the back, I follow them into a dark room near our cells.

An almost fragile looking girl thrashing against the ropes, looking possessed as if some unearthly spirit has taken hold of her. she kept cursing the chair, the ropes and her kidnappers – us basically.
She stomps her feet over and over, trying to build enough force to tip the chair, to shatter her face or break free from the restraints- whichever comes first.

She definitely is something else. I Thought while the other two burst in a series of never-ending laughter.

"Enough!!" I scream at them, who would take them seriously if they keep up with this slouchy image.

We entered the dimly lit cell to get a closer look at the girl. Just as I came closer, she went down with the chair but before she could hit the ground, I caught her, our gaze collapsed into each other and at that moment the whole world seemed to come at a stop, my heart skipped a beat. All her movements stopped. She stared at me with wide eyes.

"IT'S YOU." We both speak at the same time.

                     -------------------------------------------------------------

She was trying to wriggle her way out of the ropes but it was all in vain.
She tried making momentum so that the chair might fall and she might break free and just as she thought she was succeeding and the chair was falling, two big arms grasped the chair. Her eyes met another pair of hazel eyes and she froze on her spot. She felt a chill run down through her spine. After a moment of silence, they both spoke in unison.

"IT'S YOU!!"

It was the same guy from the café that night, the one who specially asked for me to sing.
I couldn't believe the guy I thought appreciated and adored my voice got me abducted. His eyes. The same warmth I saw that night behind the café lights. It was him and, suddenly the walls around me cracked.

-Perhaps, the guy your heart skipped a beat for isn't always supposed to be your knight in shining Armor.... Perhaps, some are meant to be nightmare dressed like a daydream.
