CHAPTER 7: CONFINEMENT

DAMIEN

It was the same woman from the café, the one with the beautiful voice that had captivated me from the first note. That night, Luke insisted we visit that place. He didn't tell me why, only that there was a girl I had to hear sing.

And there she was.

Amelia.

She looked at me now, her wide eyes glassy with fear and disbelief. I quickly pulled myself together.

"So... Amelia, is it?" I asked, recalling her name with deliberate calm.

She nodded, voice barely holding. "Why have you brought me here?"

"It's because of your father," I said. "He's been running from his debt for years. When he had nothing left to offer."

"Wait-my dad is here? Then Cindy... she's here too?" she cut in, her voice trembling. "Please don't hurt her. Please. I'll do anything."

She broke down then, and I felt something stir-a softness I didn't want to acknowledge.

I hate showing my weaker side. And yet here I was.

"Listen-"

BANG!

A gunshot split through the air. Carl pushed me back instantly.

"Capo, stand down!" He took me in cover.

One of my men stumbled into the room, blood pouring from a gunshot wound in his leg.

"Capo... Tony escaped. He shot the guard and took his weapons."

I clenched my jaw. "That bastard has a death wish. Carl!! track him down. I want him alive."

"Yes, Capo!"

"Luke, lock down the main house. Move the girl to the main house. It's not safe down here."

"Yes, sir."

I turned to Amelia. She was still sobbing but, her gaze lifted. Her eyes met mine, blazing with defiance.

"It's not safe here," I announced.

"It's not safe with you either," she snapped.

A pulse of anger shot through me. In one swift motion, I grabbed her by the nape of her neck, pulling her close.

"Don't mistake my lenience for weakness," I hissed. "Push me again, and I'll forget every ounce of pity I have for you or your sister."

She gasped, a whimper escaping her lips. But she didn't fight back.

I let her go, shoving her back into the chair.

Her tear-streaked face didn't leave my mind, even as I walked away.

I left her with Luke.

And even with my back turned, I felt her eyes burning through me.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Luke took Amelia into the main house as per the order. Amelia walked quietly with him scanning the lavish interior of the house.

This house is made up of black money and blood......no man can be this rich without any stain in their record. What was I thinking while
crushing on him, his aura screamed danger and I just walked right into it.

She was busy beating herself. For, the danger was always Infront of her eyes.

Luke walked her in one of the spare rooms. The silence haunted her.

"If Cindy is here, please let me see her." She turned to Luke as he was leaving and requested him.

"No." he sternly told her devoid of any emotion and walked away.

"Please I need to see her, she's only family I have....... please." She screamed behind him.

He stopped midtrack and turned around to face her.

"If you really want to meet your sister stop acting recklessly around Capo. He controls everything here and, you definitely do not want to end up into his bad books because any name ending there haven't made it out alive." He warned her, a little concern laced in his gaze before he masked it and walked away.

She walked back into the room shutting the door loudly.

This is ridiculous.... I can't believe I am trapped here between these monsters. What a crazy day... I wish this was some nightmare and I wake up in my bed back to my normal life. I am so done with being the strong girl and pretending to be okay which, I clearly am not.... please lord just. Just. Help me out please.

She sobs her heart out sitting by the window watching outside the mansion as all the guards are scattered shutting every entrance into the mansion down. With every door they closed, her hopes of escape died. Slowly tiredness overtook her into deep slumber.

STALKER

I watch her sleeping, unaware,
My heart beats fast, a quiet despair.
Perhaps tonight, I'll let her be,
For someday, she'll come back to me.

Unknowingly, she pulls the strings,
In tangled thoughts and shadowed things.
A path to heaven... or a deathbed's call,
My surreal queen.... or victim of it all.
